Joe, a native of Cincinnati, is the Director of Music at St. James Episcopal Church. In addition, he is a graduate student at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a Master’s of Music Education degree.

In May of 2015, Joe completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education – Voice from Morehead State University. At Morehead, he was a member of the George M. Luckey Jr. Academic Honors Program and received the highly competitive full-cost of attendance Honors Scholarship.

While at Morehead State, he participated in several tours and competitions. He competed with the MSU Chamber Singers and won the Mixed Chamber Choirs Open Division at the 7th World Choir Games in Cincinnati, OH in 2012. In May of 2014, he competed with the MSU Chamber Singers once again and won the title of Grand Champions of the Mayo International Choral Festival in Westport, Ireland. In October 2014, Joe won first place in the Senior Men’s Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition at Murray State University.

Joe is a very active solo and choral singer, conductor, and educator. As a performing artist, he has performed with the Morehead State University Choirs and MSU Opera. In addition, he has sung with various groups from Morehead, KY; Lexington, KY; Portsmouth, OH; and Cincinnati, OH.

As an educator, Joe has worked with all ages ranging from five to sixty-five in various settings including: Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Marjorie Book Continuing Education, Melodic Connections Music Therapy, and the Haldeman After School Program. He will rely upon his unique work experience in order to continue the well-known excellence of St. James’ music ministry.

As a conductor, Joe has worked with many schools and students. While the Music Director of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia’s Theta Pi Chapter he directed the 40 member men’s chorus where they performed at local nursing homes, athletic events, and music department events. Joe was also given the opportunity to conduct Morehead State University’s Concert Choir for the Fall 2014 semester and work with Rodney Eichenberger, former Professor of Music at Florida State University, in a conducting master class.

Before arriving to St. James, Joe was a church musician at the First Baptist Church of Morehead, KY. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Kentucky Music Education Association (KMEA), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
